Dear ACSSW Membership,
We hope this correspondence finds you each safe and well. It has been a while since the board has reached out with updates on where we are as an association. Over the past year, we have had really good internal conversations about board membership transitions, growth of the association, and future directions. This all culminated with a retreat in Sante Fe, NM this past March where we came together to establish a strategic plan moving forward. A lot was accomplished! One of the major changes is that we have decided to change our vision and focus to a more specific school social work framework. Here is a brief summary of our future work:
• We will be updating our mission and vision to focus on school wellbeing, while holistically incorporating diversity and equity in schools. This will allow us to create a more robust professional development training and support programs with resources for members.
• We are in the process of creating a new updated website. *More information on that to come!
• Expand current board to add four new members
• Revision of board officer titles e.g. President to Chair; Vice President to Vice Chair
• National Conference in January or early Spring 2025.
We of course will renew some of our well-known products and services such as Casual Conversations, and Courageous Conversations, and are revamping and will be restarting our newsletters. We will be making full updates to the website and are planning on developing expanded professional development training for school-based providers. We are very excited with our new focus and direction and as always, we welcome membership support through volunteering on committees, applying for open board positions, and membership renewal.
The board thanks you for your patience and understanding over the past year and we look forward to connecting in the very near future.
Warmly,
The ACSSW Board
